Happy Texas Independence Day!

“Texas is a state of mind. Texas is an obsession. Above all, Texas is a nation in every sense of the word.” John Steinbeck

About Land & Livestock Interntional, Inc.

Land and Livestock International, Inc. is a leading agribusiness management firm providing a complete line of services to the range livestock industry. We believe that private property is the foundation of America. Private property and free markets go hand in hand—without property there is no freedom. We also believe that free markets, not government intervention, hold the key to natural resource conservation and environmental preservation. No government bureaucrat can (or will) understand and treat the land with as much respect as its owner. The bureaucrat simply does not have the same motives as does the owner of a capital interest in the property. Our specialty is the working livestock ranch simply because there are so many very good reasons for owning such a property. We provide educational, management and consulting services with a focus on ecologically and financially sustainable land management that will enhance natural processes (water and mineral cycles, energy flow and community dynamics) while enhancing profits and steadily building wealth.

  1. Brian Patrick Corcoran says:

I can only state what Texas has been to me. I was born, raised and educated in Wisconsin. When the big bad Vietnam War draft came along and sucked me up I ended up at Ft Sam in San Antonio for training as a medic at the tender age of 21. That was my first introduction to Texas and I learned to love the Hill Country. Then, some years later when the recession of ’78 hit, I moved from Milwaukee to Houston to find the elusive job that escaped me in the rust belt. Houston sustained me for four years after which I decided to return to school. In 2002, degrees and experience in hand, I moved to Austin and lived there for over 10 years until I decided to leave the US entirely in response to deteriorating political and economic conditions. In a nutshell, Texas has always sustained me in times of need. It has always been my ultimate recourse and refuge for freedom and prosperity. To this day in Chile, where I currently live, when Chileans inquire of me from whence I came, I do not state I am from the United States, I do not state that I am from Wisconsin, I proudly say that I am a Texan, and I mean it from the very bottom of my soul. And there is not a Chilean alive who does not know and appreciate the meaning of the word “Texan” as understood from all the the John Wayne movies they have enjoyed . They relate to it with an understanding and respectful smile. ” Soy Tejano”, I proudly announce. I am an instant hero. And the flag of Chile and the flag of Texas are practically the same! Red, White and Blue with a single proud star. The Lone Star State and the Lone Star Country. God Bless Texas!! God Bless Chile!!

  2. There are many reminders we can all take from Texas’ proud history; not the least of which is just not forgetting our own. To walk into The Alamo is to walk into a cathedral; a hallowed sanctuary. When I visit, I am proud to see one of my ancestors name, as a defender, engraved on her walls…and I don’t forget.

    • Yes sir, it is the Mecca. Having lived myself for amost a year “umder seige” at a place called An Hoa in Vietnam, when I walk into the Alamo I get a really strange feeling. I can feel the fear but I can also feel the excitiment. Nothing like it.

      Think secession!
