MIRIAM CAREY MYSTERY: D.C. cops stonewall release of Capitol shooting video

Scant details on shooting of unarmed young mother in car with baby

by Garth Kant  via WND

WASHINGTON – Police in Washington, D.C., have virtually admitted they have video of law-enforcement officers shooting to death a young, unarmed woman, but they’re deliberately withholding it from the public.

WND attempted to obtain video of the shooting death of 34-year-old Miriam Carey in the shadow of the nation’s Capitol on Oct. 3, 2013, by filing a Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA, request.

The request was denied by the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police department, which is handling the investigation into the conduct of the uniformed Secret Service agents and U.S. Capitol Police officers who chased Carey in her car, then shot her dead.

By telling WND that releasing the video might adversely affect any criminal proceeding, police have essentially admitted such video might cast a bad light on the conduct of officers and agents.

It also confirmed that authorities are at least considering the possibility of pressing charges against officers and agents involved in the shooting of Carey.

About Land & Livestock Interntional, Inc.

Land and Livestock International, Inc. is a leading agribusiness management firm providing a complete line of services to the range livestock industry. We believe that private property is the foundation of America. Private property and free markets go hand in hand—without property there is no freedom. We also believe that free markets, not government intervention, hold the key to natural resource conservation and environmental preservation. No government bureaucrat can (or will) understand and treat the land with as much respect as its owner. The bureaucrat simply does not have the same motives as does the owner of a capital interest in the property. Our specialty is the working livestock ranch simply because there are so many very good reasons for owning such a property. We provide educational, management and consulting services with a focus on ecologically and financially sustainable land management that will enhance natural processes (water and mineral cycles, energy flow and community dynamics) while enhancing profits and steadily building wealth.

How do the “rules of engagement” for law enforcement in DC compare to those of US soldiers in Kabul?

    • Actually, they are quite a bit more stringent for soldiers. I seem to recall reading something about that not long ago. If I can track it down, I’ll put up the link.

Thanks. That’s what I suspect, but I do not know. If so:

        1. Had those cops and Secret Service agents been soldiers they would have been court martialed for such actions?

        2. If the police actions in the Miriam Carey incident are deemed justified, does that mean Washington DC is a more dangerous war zone than Afghanistan?

        3. Why would the U.S. Government have more to fear from its own citizens than the Taliban?

What was it the President said about putting lipstick on a pig?

The answers to your first two questions are yes.

To elaborate on number two. Data shows that an American is 8 times more likely to be murdered by a cop than by a terrorist. Also, since 911, more Americans have been killed by cops than American soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The answer to number three is because 1) there are more of us; 2) we are better armed; and 3) we blend in with the terrain and society. Talk about it being hard to differentiate between friend and foe!
