What “Climate Justice” Really Means

Our company (Land & Livestock International, Inc.) grows grass and turns it into beef for a living. Our program of “Planned Grazing” follows what was originally called The Savory Grazing Method.

I was at the Arizona Cattle Growers meeting last July. One of the programs was presented by a Male-Female team of academics from the University of Arizona. They were there to make sure all us dumb cowboys knew how to do “it” (their tired old range killing method).

After the presentation, a friend (that ranches BLM land in Arizona) and I approached the pair. I immediately cut to the chase: “We no more believe in anthropological global warming than I believe I can flap my arms and fly. But…we sequester carbon–lots and lots and lots of carbon. We do not do it to ‘save the world and all the little children.’ We do it because it makes money.”

You should have been there to see the dumbfounded look on their faces. lol — jtl, 419

For this, however, they perhaps should consider the market economy, their own declared enemy, as the lifeboat of the world. It is not only that we can fight environmental degradation while we can keep our capitalist system alive (as far as it still exists). About Land & Livestock Interntional, Inc.

Land and Livestock International, Inc. is a leading agribusiness management firm providing a complete line of services to the range livestock industry. We believe that private property is the foundation of America. Private property and free markets go hand in hand—without property there is no freedom. We also believe that free markets, not government intervention, hold the key to natural resource conservation and environmental preservation. No government bureaucrat can (or will) understand and treat the land with as much respect as its owner. The bureaucrat simply does not have the same motives as does the owner of a capital interest in the property. Our specialty is the working livestock ranch simply because there are so many very good reasons for owning such a property. We provide educational, management and consulting services with a focus on ecologically and financially sustainable land management that will enhance natural processes (water and mineral cycles, energy flow and community dynamics) while enhancing profits and steadily building wealth.
